Today's photographs were taken with the theme of Pictorialism, described by Phillip Prodger, in the introduction to Impressionist Camera: Pictorial Photography in Europe as: "an international style and aesthetic movement that dominated photography during the later 19th and early 20th centuries." Our class found ourselves surrounded by the wonderful sights and sounds of suburbia and its central park in San Elijo, San Marcos, during the Solar Eclipse of 2024. I found it challenging to photograph with the intentional blurred effect, only capturing a few images with the distinct style. Throughout the photoshoot I used different ISO scales, varying from 100 ISO to 400 ISO when in the shade, and brought the exposure down due to the direct sun rays. I later discovered in post production, through Adobe Lightroom, I was able to get the desired effect of pictorials, with grainer images and slight vignetting. I enjoyed taking candid images of my classmates and the friendly, furry Foster, who enjoyed his early afternoon photoshoot.
